Christiana Stefanou - Managing Director of the Vienna State Ballet Academy

During D&D Online Masterclass on March 31/April 1 & 2.  Miss Christiana Stefanou will be holding an Audition for the Wiener Staatsoper Ballettakademie school year 2021-2022 for students from the age of 12 to 16 by September 2021. Selected students will be invited free of charge for one week to take classes at the academy during which students will be observed by the director and the academy's staff. (Private audition).

Christiana Stefanou has been the director of the Vienna State Opera Ballet Academy since August 2020. She has extensive dance pedagogical knowledge and decades of professional experience as a dancer, teacher, guest lecturer, ballet director and coach of many renowned artists. She completed her Master's degree in dance education at the University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
However, her career first led Christiana Stefanou to Munich, where she studied dance at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater and was subsequently engaged by the Bavarian State Ballet. There she worked as a dancer for many years and interpreted many of the great classical and modern solo roles. After her successful career on stage, Christiana Stefanou worked as ballet master for the Ballet of the Greek National Opera of Athens and became director of the company. At the same time she began teaching at the State Ballet Academy of the Greek National Opera and at the School of Performing Arts Greece. 
As a guest ballet master and dance teacher, she has worked with the most important companies in the world, among others the Dutch National Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, Ballett am Rhein Düsseldorf Duisburg, Boston Ballet, English National Ballet, Bayerisches Staatsballett, National Ballet Romania, Czech National Ballet, Balletto dell’Opera di Roma, Ballett Theater Basel, at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Munich and at the San Francisco Bay Point Ballet School. 
She is also in demand as a coach for many important ballerinas and dancers of our time such as Polina Semionova, Lucia Lacarra, Anna Tsygankova, Friedemann Vogel, Daniel Camargo as well as Paulo Arrais. Furthermore, she has been invited to restage the major classical ballets such as »Swan Lake«, »Don Quixote«, »Nutcracker« and »Giselle« with many major ballet institutions worldwide. 


David Makhateli

International Guest Teacher, Choreographer

Mr. Makhateli is a co-founder and Artistic Director of D&D Art Productions, the Grand Audition, D&D Intensive Ballet Masterclass programme in Barcelona (Spain), Tokyo / Osaka (Japan), Panama City (Panama). With D&D company, he organised numerous International Ballet Galas and Festivals worldwide, among them: “Meet the Stars”, “Nureyev and Friends”, “La Nuit des Etoiles”, “Stars with Maya Plisetskaya”, “Kremlin Ballet Festival” and other.


​Graduate of the Royal Ballet School and Former Principal Dancer of The Royal Ballet, Covent Garden, he has performed allover the world including Russia, Japan, throughout in Europe, United States, Brazil, Cuba, China, Korea, Panama, Georgia and in United Kingdom for Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal family.  Mr. Makhateli is invited Guest Teacher of the Royal Ballet, Opéra National de Paris, Het National Ballet, Finnish National Ballet, Ballet de l'Opéra National de Bordeaux, Swedish Royal Ballet.

Daria Makhateli
D&D Art Productions, ex-Principal Dancer of the Finnish National Ballet, Mariinsky Ballet.

Graduate of the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet in 2005 (class of Prof. Tatiana Udalenkova), she joined the Mariinsky Theatre the same year. Daria Makhateli performed with Mariinsky Theatre Soloist and Principal roles on Mariinsky Stage, as well as on Stages of the top and prestiges theatres worldwide on tours with Mariinsky  and as a guest; UK, USA, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore among other places. In 2014 Daria Makhateli was invited by Kenneth Greve to join Finnish National Ballet as a Principal Dancer. Daria Makhateli is a recipient of the “Golden Sofit” award for the best female role in the ballet “Meek One” choreographed by Donvena Pandoursky (2007). Daria was invited guest ballerina of Asami Maki Ballet in Tokyo, Japan.


Daria Makhateli is a co-founder director of the D&D Art Productions and the Grand Audition (First International Ballet Audition Platform which took place for the first time in 2016).
